Secret Obsession

Brace yourself as I am about to reveal my secret (or not so secret) obsession!

A day before the MTV music awards right here in Genting, Malaysia my friends threw a hen party for one of my Best Friends, B who was getting married (now married) - Well it was a very tame hen party as there weren’t any strippers or stuff like that (not that it mattered). B just wanted to spend some time with her girlfriends. So we all met up at this place at The Curve and celebrated her departure from singledom with her symbolically cutting a White Chocolate cake (this part is not the symbolic part) which carried the wordings “My Single Life”.

It was a very close party. The invitees were mostly childhood friends of which some were still single and available, some complicated, some in a long term relationship, some married, some with kids and one even pregnant at 9 months waiting to burst anytime! God that was scary…her baby would have been born in a Club! Anywho….. the guest of honour, B decided we should all head to a Mamak near her place before the sleepover.

At the Mamak all eyes were on us… yes some short, some tall, some fair, same dark, some with short skirts, some with tudungs….guess we did look like an odd bunch to be out together. Odd not cos its wrong…its just not something you normally see. We sit down for more chit chat @ girl talk.

Then it happened…. B’s cousin who is also my friend announced that she and B would be going to Genting for MTV awards. At this point I’m like “cool”. Pretty un-amused. I told them that it didn’t really bother me that I’m not going. Its like for teenagers anyway… There would be only one thing in the world that I would regret not going for….Justin…yes Justin Timberlake! That’s when Lina (that’s B’s cousin) dropped the bomb! “HE IS COMING LA” she said.

“What? He can’t be.” “But he is!” says she. Ok this woman works at EMI, so what are the odds she could be wrong right? As that thought sank into my mind I started to feel sick; my stomach was doing 360 x infinity, I felt like throwing up, I couldn’t even feel the weight of my head on my shoulders anymore…I started talking to myself, in my head of course

“OMG this can’t possibly be happening” says insane me.

“Owh come on, you are such a level headed person, why you acting like such a loser, It’s just some performer for gods sake! What difference would it make in you life if you went or not?” sane me tries to knock some sense into me.

“No!!!! But its Justin! He’s charm, he’s wit, his humor, he’s awesome dance moves, he’s sexiness, he’s music!” retorts insane me.

“Yes, he is SEXAAY….n HAWT” sane me gives in and melts to butter.

~Back to the Mamak~

Lina, “ Abs, are you ok?” (oh..Im Abs by the way)

Insane me n sane me, “No Lina Im not ok! How can you not tell me that he is coming down? I can’t take this. He is not coming down. I pray to god. No. I know he is not coming. He isn’t. I’m not going BECAUSE he is NOT coming. And if he does come I don’t know how I will take it. God! I can’t take it. Anyway, I wana go backstage. I don’t just wana watch him from far. Hmmm… if I get to see him..I probably end up saying something like ‘Hi’ and smile like a big dork! I guess its ok that Im not going cos I cant get backstage passes. So its ok…Oh no!!!! What if I open FACEBOOK the next day and there are like some people took pictures with him and all that? I reaaaaly can’t take that. That’s so sick! He’s not coming! You better hope he doesn’t come…cos if he does and there are those FACEBOOK pics or something like that I swear that I won’t talk to you guys for few months. I don’t think I can. I’m sorry but I feel sick. Don’t bother calling me…..”

AND THAT’S WHEN I KNEW HOW SICK MY OBSSESSION WAS!

I’m not proud to admit it but I was a wreck until I was informed that he didn’t come after all!

STRIKE 2

It was last Friday or sometime last week. I woke up kinda later then I wanted to, about 10am, made my coffee and switched on the telly. I flipped the channel to Hallmark cos I know Oprah should be on at this time. O for OprahOh Oprah can anyone not like this woman? She makes me wana spell owesome with an O!

flip flip flip..

OMG! Its him. I do something well weird at this point which caught myself by surprise! I hugged my telly! (What? Are you out of your mind?) I was ecstatic. He in all his charm was sitting here in my living room! I became a little girl again… I ran to the my room and grabbed my digital camera. Damn. The battery was pretty low, threatening to die on me any minute. I plugged it up to the charger near the telly at the commercial break. Then he appears before my eyes again. I quickly start aiming snapping trying to capture him as if I was in the crowd. He was gorgeous. The way he spoke was indeed captivating.

The next segment he serenaded me with “What Goes Around” complete with him on the piano. Again I melt. He was so connected to his music and his crowd. He wasn’t just a pretty face but a Justified (pun intended) artist. His fingers glided thoroughly yet smoothly throughout the piano hitting the notes strongly. Energy coming through every hard strike…. @_@

To Lina: I’m sorry I sounded really possessed. I love you ~_~

To Sujen: Thanks for being so understanding. Even when I involuntarily cry out whenever I hear a Justin song.

To Bulma: Why la no strippers? eheh

To Youwhois Readingthis: Im sorry If you feel like throwing up after reading this.

PS: My camera is kaput for some reason I don’t know. ..

Fashion Flirt

Are you a fashion flirt? I know I am.

Ramesh Vadiveloo the owner of Attic and Justin Yap cossy up

So I get this invite on Facebook right...and its some event called Fashion Flirt. I scan thru (not reading of course), look for pictures, checkout who will be attending and wonder about the name of the event again>Fashion Flirt. I take a look at all the uploaded pictures notice pretty quickly they are Mr Justin (not Timberlake ...) Yap's collection. Ha! Now that piqued my interest! I go back to the main page and at last start reading what its all about... This is what it said

We like fashion. so do I
We like meeting people. me too
We like going out on a night looking hot and making new friends. er ok..agree on the friends part.
We like being entertained with good music and fun interactive games. ~nods head~

And so we've created Fashion Flirt just for that simple purpose! wah just create like that! good lo!

Fashion Flirt happens once a month, Thursdays. okay

Fashion Flirt is all about being up to date with young crazily talented local fashion designers who are definitely up&coming. Designers who aren't afraid to think waaaaay outside the box, and bring out the sexy flirtatiousness in their designs. Yeah baby! Now youre talking!
We like that. OMG so do I (while doing frenzied head and hand movements - bimbo style of course)

Fashion Flirt is also the perfect event to be meeting new faces and adding more numbers into that little black book *winks* I don't have one... What? i should get one? I probably lose it even If i had one and we'll be right back to 'I don't have one'. heh. Dowanla

Whats better than a night that has yummy biscuity models displaying an array of to-die-for apparel, surrounded by spunky interesting individuals, and kickass cocktails at the bar? biscuity...biscotti..sounds so cute..hmmm... what abt Yummy dunked in teh-tarik so slightly fluffy bicuity models like me?

You know it. Keep tuned for more Fashion Flirt news @ the attic!! God knows where that is. But its a plus that houses in Malaysia don't have attics... so that leaves alot of places to be eliminated.

So I decide to go and see what the hoohaa is all about. Sounds like a good place for Networking. But yeah I decide to go like couple of days before the event even though the invite has been hanging out in my Facebook for quite sometime. I return to the page to confirm my attendance. It says I can bring friends but I would need to provide their names. I sms a few of my friends that may benefit from attending this event..but my mobile stays silent... They reply but no one confirms... now I send a msg..a very sad sappy one on how I'll be going alone. Julez feels sorry for me and promises she will come with me =) yeay! I guess my sappy msg must have been really sappy cos everyone else replies me as well! Well almost everyone. YEAY YEAY.

Getting ready

Well I don't spend much time at all deciding what to wear. My mom got me this bright yellow top and I had already decided to wear that.

I matched it with a simple 4 piece gold bangle that had yellow dangle(y) bits on it that was actually scheduled to be thrown into the bin by my mom! She got it free from this indian accessories shop after we spent a bom there! Too her it looked so last season, like the boss was giving away the old stock, like he used our shopping bags like recycle bags! eheh. A bit dramatic but it did look kinda shabby to compliment an indian outfit. I assured her that I could match it with some western gear and will rock it and beg (ok not on my knees) her not to throw it.

I learned that my hair looks better with its natural curls. So I just leave it be and enhance the curls where necessary.

Julez texts me and says I have to look good! Cos they choosing ambassadors and I just have to get it plus she's supposedly lookin mighty fine, with her jacket and all ;) and I have to compliment her 9_9

Alison calls me and tells me not to be late! I assure her I will be late =p

~at this point im like thinking 'ok u guys, if i keep smsing i WILL be late. I know la u all tak sabar wana see me n hangout with me right =p' hehe ~

Fetching my date

Julez my ol fren calls me to make sure Im on my way. She had sms-ed me directions to her house th day before and Im darn sure I know how to get there!

but turns out me being the wreck that I am managed to somehow erase the message and also get the wrong road. I dunno where I was going ....but finally I was guided to somewhere near her house but she still had to walk out some distance and I had to make an illegal U-turn, but apparently "Its ok la, everyone does it".

On the way now. We wind down the window for some fresh air... but the air smells like ASS! OMG its the yuckiest thing ever! We wind up and hope the traffic lights change faster so we can get out of this shitty (pun =D ) place.

The Attic

Haaa finally we are at The Attic! Its in Bangsar. Well for starters the atmosphere was something I least expected. It was very quiet. Not many familiar faces either. It had a very house party feel..but still way too quiet.

I scan the room for familiar faces. Aly finally catches my gaze. Um..Stella from the MDG auditions is there too. Fiqa and her friend appear right after us. When we are done registering we quickly head toward Aly. We all find a seat and very quicky get into introductions and chitter chatter.

The fun is starting to build up and people start to mingle. Oh and there was this lady talking to us about Salsa classes.... I duno... call me a perv but after hearing her describe Salsa Nights (not a name of a movie but just what they call a night of Salsa) I began thinking that Salsa was very promiscuous...

"........There will be a lot of guys there. Every guy has his own style and moves. So the more you dance with different partners the more you will learn moves. Every guy is different. Its interesting. If you have never done it before you can come and watch. Then you can slowly join in. Its really good. ...."

Hey not my fault la! hahaha. Sorry sorry...Maybe its just my mind! No disrespect to Salsa and Salsa-ers.
yellow-yellow dirty fellows - jay n gangez

The Fashion Show

Me and Julez couldn't find a better time to head to the toilet! As we come out of the throne room we realise the fashion show is about to start and the catwalk starts from inside the restroom area! Aiyo! We sneak out when the 2nd model is half way down the catwalk and make a quick dash back but of course whilst stealing some of her lime light! Sorry =(

Justin refreshingly used various types of models and not biscuity types. I believe this shows that his ensembles is for everybody and not meant solely for the runway.

There were 3 rounds all in all, evening, casual, and smart casual. Or thats what I thought I saw.
Justin with his models. The lady in white beside him is so hawt!

Not so sure about about all the outfits but if I were to judge him by just donning his outfit once I would say he is an amazing designer who managed to capture elegance, detail, class and most importantly comfort. I had walked the runway for him during the Mifa08 Launch and I felt totally naked! No but its a good thing! The material was so lightweight and smooth. It was like the Emperor's New Clothes! The shoes! OMG it was like stepping on clouds in heaven. He told me the dress was Cashmere Silk and the shoes Lambskin. Ive never felt so pampered...just by donning an outfit.

The Ambassadors

OK I think the men in the crowd were mostly gay men..why? well when the emcee asked "Do you wana see the male ambassadors?" The crowd was real loud "What about the female ambassadors?" silent. except for me n some noise makers. Oh well. it is FASHION!

Thanks to overwhelming response and votes ..they decide to pick 4 male ambassadors and 7 female ambassadors as opposed to 3 female ambassadors and 3 male ambassadors!

The Guys:

Ken Yeong

Micah Boutin

Teik Lee

The Gurlies

Aida Hani

Alison Victor (yeay - that's ma gurl)

Alison Rodriguez

Asniesari Rahim

Fiqa Liyana (yippee - that's ma gurl too!)

Ganges Rekha (wooo - our senior)

Jaishana Logan (hey! thats...thats me!)

Me doing Catwalk while Fiqa n Aly cheer me on adoringly ...awwww...

Stella Matilda (from MDG auditions)

Joyce Kristen (the kinkybluefairy) as Honourary Fashion Ambassador

OK somehow when I do the math it doesn't add up to what was announced! But who cares =p

Some of the ambassadors - me~_~ , Fiqa, Stella, Aly, Gangez

How the Night Ended

The night ended with more chitter chatter and my 'team' hung out at the balcony with lotsa other kewl people (u know who you are).

Julez, Fiqa, Kahar, Me ~_~

I just have to add that Ishak the photographer from Envy turns out to be really kewl. We are totally on the same wavelength! Never knew but glad to know.

The Kinky Joyce (wearing Justin Yap), Ma gurl Fiqa and The Kewl Ishak

Well setelah selesai di Attic kami pun berangkat ke sebuah kedai mamak dan lepak makan makap disana. Hari ini memang menyeronokkan!
Its a Wrap! My bro joins us at mamak.

Fashion Flirt happens every month and falls on a Thursday. The next event is Flirt with Dubleve (and its "doo-bluh-vay" ) Fashion on 28th August 2008 ! Be there!

About Being Ourselves

'bout the language, that's fine by me.. superb command of English is over rated, we just need to be ourselves xD'

Well I was reading comments on my last post and was about to reply one... the one I just mentioned above...then it started becoming lengthy so I decided it would be great as a post.

This one is simply about being ourselves... what does it mean? personally i dont think its over rated... IMHO its good to be ourselves but its better to be our best selves. We all have potential to be more then what we are so we should not be content with who we are. Well Im not saying we should be over zealously pushing ourselves...that's just tiring! and can be quite painful for others to endure too.

But sometimes under certain circumstances we cant wholly be who we want to be or rather who we really are. Circumstances may vary. Many factors such as Time, Money, Cultural Background, Family and Relationships, and so on could throw you off track . And mostly we can't really be who we are to the fullest. We are part who people want us to be. But that said... It brings us to a question... Is it worth living for people? I shall not answer that... because it is a point definitely to ponder. Go on and think about it.

There may be a lot of things that you could say stop you from being who you want to be or what you want to be. But those are just excuses. Because deep down inside you know that 'you are not afraid to fail but rather afraid off the greatness you are capable of' And you know that with greatness comes a whole lot of other things. But thats just my humble opinion.

OK Im off now.... don't know if I made any sense to anyone ~_~

Hot out the Kitchen

Finally the August issue of Female is out! This issue features a hair spread where they gave three of the past cover girls a make over. How cool is that? Lil ol me with Amber Chia - Malaysian Supermodel and Emmeline Ng Miss Malaysia 2005!

Amber seemed quite busy during the prep.. she arrives later then us and is constantly buzzed on the phone... being booked for jobs and such. I must say this girl has been working very hard improving herself. Her command of the English language is a lot better. Well its not perfect but its getting close and will be soon if she keeps trying. Some people have not been very kind to her I would say. Mocking the way she spoke...our so called Supermodel can't speak English and she is representing Malaysia to the world? Well now she can stick her pretty little tongue at you!! =p nyeh. Sad how for some people , others shortcomings put a smile on their faces. Amber's book entitled 'The Secret Behind a Supermodel' will be out soon, I think in about 2 months.

I don't really know much about Emmeline Ng other then the fact that is Miss Malaysia 2005. She sat next to me during the prep session. If I were to describe her from first impression I would say she is very down to earth and very eloquent. Recently she appeared on the very edgy cover of the first issue of Envy Magazine Hope to have more shoots and shows with her =) Well of course Amber gets the spread page...

Amber gets the spread of course!

Jaishana - The Valentine issue girl ~_~

Emmeline - looking Regal with the new hair

Hrm...so looks like that's about it... Haven't got my Tatler yet.. but defiantly looking forward to it. Well I gota run now...oh this picture below will also be in the August issue of Female. Ah...and there is this event called Fashion Flirt in Attic KL I want to go to.. its this Thursday. So hope to see you there! (meanin if I make it there!) heh 9_9

Visit to Hell

-Throw me in hell and I'll still have a halo over my head -

MDG Doll Heads

Hey hey hey... apparently Monday again. Well well what was eventful last week? Me and ma gurls Hanis n Fiqa did a hairshow for Wella again...and this time my hair (and me) have been changed from coconut husk head to to a hot and sassy red head! Im lovin the new hair! We had a ball of a time the three of us. We couldn't just sit still. I couldn't stop bugging the girls as usual and vice versa... just that Fiqa is not so good (sucks) at bugging but is a delight to be bugged! eheh. Me and Hanis had a ball of a time!
So the guys who did our hair were 2 Japanese guys and 1 Taiwanese guy. One of the 2 Japanese guys couldn't speak English whereas the other sounded like he been in US for quite a bit. So well it was a long two days but here are some things that made it memorable:

1. I initially tried on something very elegant and sexy... but then those Japanese men decided that i should wear this fully lace black dress... with (a lame excuse for) a shorts and a tiny tube inside. I wasn't thrilled but ... i guess it wasn't that bad. So they decided I was thier lace girl and they used something called hair lace on me.... yeap its real human hair made into lace, wrapped around and pinned ove my face! I tell u it smelled like oil! no not coconut oil ...like the natural oils secreted from human head! And I have no idea how many diff heads did those hair come from! Yaks!

2. Due to the English language barrier we were served with a few unintended jokes ....

scene 1: Mr. Taiwan n Mr. Jap who no speaka english are doing my hair.

Mr. Taiwan,"Is this your helmet?"

Jay "What?"

Mr. Taiwan, putting something on the table "This..is this your helmet?"

Jay I had been unaware that my cap hat fallen down!"That's called a cap darling"

Mr. Taiwan "oh its not helmet?"

Jay "No, no. Helmet can protect your head. Like for motorbike or bicycle you know?"

~we all laugh happily ever after~

scene 2: Mr. Jap who no speaka English is washing Hanis' hair after the show. He had been talking about a technique of cutting hair called swish blade or switch blade or something and one of the other models had over heard it.

Model "hey did you create the swish blade technique?"

Mr. Jap "Thank you"

Well the poor guy thought that the model told him he was great or something like that! But its ok ...we found a translator and all had a good laugh after! Kawaiiii! yeah that is one of the two Jap words I know. The other is Baka ~_~

3. Hanis' make up is called the Americana... sounds like a kind or coffee to me.Here is us clownin around. In case you are wondering they didn't bleach her hair. Those were just stuck onto her head.

Ok next I head on down to Ara Damansara to meet Alison... cos before the show we had gone for a casting together with Fiqa for Honda. The models had been shortlisted but the clients wanted to see us first, and the lady who was booking me told me that I could bring my friends who would like to try out as well. So I did la. But monkey Hanis didn't bother reading her sms! Aaaaanyway When I went for the audition I had left my shades so Aly picked em up for me. So the plan was to meet after Wella show.

Me n fiqa rush down so that we don't get caught in the jam. It was 5 but we somehow managed to beat it. Before meeting Aly we stop at the Studio / Office where all the MDG stuff went on. I don't know what I was expecting but the people seemed indifferent to us now....anywhose ...after having a drink at the mamak yang Sedap (cos its name is Sedap) I get invited to Aly's house. Fiqa has to go home so she does... At Aly's I feel most welcomed...her mom is a lovely lady. I carry her lil nephew for awhile and constantly sniff him! I love the smell of babies! He was just the sweetest thing but I was chicken that I may carry him wrongly. Then there was her Lil niece who is excited too see me cos she is my ardent supporter...but she is very shy! She is a smart lil girl I can see by the way she talks and carries herself.

I also met 2 of her sisters...one the baby of the house and the other the mother of two of the babies i just mentioned and her better half. Last but not least was her Dalmatian called Cash $
Oh and did I mention I was treated to a homemade dinner as well? swell! That's me and the Victors! Dont you think I fit in so well? Hrm...if you haven't noticed I'm wearing my Mrs. Timberlake t-shirt in hope that Justin might actually google it up and find me...eheh

Quote of the day

"Keep on hating me...Ima keep on givin yo'll sumthing to hate" - T.I. aka Clifford Harris Jr.
